슈퍼 트위터 소프라니노는 미국의 스피커 업체 이니그마 어쿠스틱스의 제품이다. 이니그마 어쿠스틱스에선 현재 소프라니노 슈퍼 트위터와 미솔로지 M1 북셀프 스피커를 생산하고 있다.
슈퍼 트위터란 광대역 녹음 기술이 발전하면서, 이를 제대로 재생하기 위한 스피커가 사람들에게 인정받기 시작하면서 나온 제품이다. 과거 스피커들은 풀레인지 개념에서 크게 벗어나지 않았다. 2웨이, 3웨이로 발전했지만 여전히 초고역대는 20kHz 이하에 머문 것이다. 사람의 청각 기관은 20kHz 이상은 들을 수 없다고 하지만, 그 이상의 주파수 대역이 제대로 재생되지 못할 경우 뭔가 부족한 것을 대부분 느끼는 것이다.
하이엔드 오디오 시스템에서는 초저역에서 초고역까지, 특히 초고역에서 치열한 전쟁이 벌어지고 있다. 초고역을 제대로 재생한다는 것은 어떤 의미인가? 목소리, 악기 소리는 기본음이 중역대에 몰려 있지만, 목소리와 악기 소리의 음색을 좌우하는 것은 중역에서 초고역까지 널리 퍼져 있는 배음들의 분포와 에너지 밀도이다. 따라서 초고역까지 배음을 많이 재생하면 할수록 실제 목소리, 악기 소리와 비슷해지고 최종적으로 스피커에서 들려주는 소리는 연주장에서 듣는 소리와 비슷해서 자연스러워지는 것이다.
